I am still wondering why I cannot get a BlueGriffon-build to start on my Windows system. It is Windows 7 with User Account Control disabled. When I start bluegriffon-bin.exe a default profile is created. This has two files inside: compatibilty.ini and prefs.js.

Compatibility.ini has these contents:
[Compatibility]
LastVersion=0.5_20100927202032/20100924165625
LastOSABI=WINNT_x86-msvc
LastPlatformDir=C:\tools\bluegriffon
LastAppDir=C:\tools\bluegriffon

The prefs.js file only has comments inside. That makes sense, because I could not change any preference because BlueGriffon fails to start.

I have also removed the Disruptive Innovations SARL folder from %APPDATA% and then it gets re-created. However, still Bluegriffon does not want to start.

Is there any reason why Bluegriffon does not start ? Can I try something else to get it to start ?

Thanks in advance,

Martijn

@nirwana: that's a build you built yourself or my M1 build?

hello daniel, and a big thank for bluegriffon and previously, nvu and friends.

i appologize for this technocratic approach, but i wish to build an use bluegriffon as a xulrunner application, when xulrunner is shared (on a debian linux system).

so far i have done a script that checks out bluegriffon applies a debian diff and builds bluegriffon (in the dist/ subdir). i will finish that to also install bluegriffon by copying dist/ contents to /usr/lib/bluegriffon, and dist/bin/firefox (first ensure it's renaming) to /usr/bin.

at this moment i'm running dist/bin/firefox/ and see bluegriffon screen, but i'm unable to do anything (like opening a new page tab etc.) . svg editor works, though.
there is a message on the console that might give a clue:
Failed to stop observing prefs: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER) [nsIPrefBranchInternal.removeObserver]" nsresult: "0x80004003 (NS_ERROR_INVALID_POINTER)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://bluegriffon/content/js/bluegriffon.js :: Shutdown :: line 288" data: no]
### NotifierUtils: removeNotifierCallback() no such callback for notifier id 'selection'

any idea for a solution?

Daniel,

It is the default M1-build. I am not going to build Bluegriffon until I can start a default version of the software ;-)

This evening I started it again and it appeared in the Windows Task Manager.
It creates a default profile folder and that's it. I do not see any crash, it just disappears from the Task Manager.

I have also posted it to our Dutch Mozilla forum and there are guys who can just start BlueGriffon on their Windows systems: http://www.mozbrowser.nl/forum/view...

I have already disabled the virusscanner (just in case), but that does not make a difference. Does BlueGriffon have some dependencies ?

When I try bluegriffon-bin.exe in Dependency Walker (depends) I see 2 DLL's that cannot be resolved: gpsvc.dll and ieshims.dll

gpsvc seems to be some Group Policy stuff and ieshims.dll is unknown to me. However, then Google is my friend: http://social.technet.microsoft.com...

This also seems related: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo... because I am missing these DLL's and have a 64 bit system.
Is this a debug build ?
BTW, I also have Visual Studio 2010 installed on this system.
